The Asylum Policy Forum 2025 takes a critical look at these developments. In lectures and discussions, we will examine the strategies used to erode human rights, the role of the church and civil society, and the political challenges in North Rhine-Westphalia. Expert talks and working groups provide space for in-depth discussion – for example, on church asylum, the right to remain, the best interests of the child, expert report practices, and social law repressions.

The central question is that of solidarity-based alternatives: How can we defend and further develop human rights standards? What avenues for action arise for refugee aid organizations? And how do we counter right-wing attacks on an open society?

The forum is aimed at everyone who works professionally or voluntarily for refugees – in counseling, politics, church, administration, or civil society. It offers space for exchange, networking, and developing common strategies.
