From 1 January 2027, the price of the Deutschlandticket will rise. The monthly fare will increase from 63 to 66.80 euros.
The Deutschlandticket allows you to use almost all local and regional public transport services throughout Germany. Around 14.5 million people currently use this ticket.
How much will the new price be?
From January 2027, the monthly cost of the Deutschlandticket will be:
66.80 euros – Standard Deutschlandticket;
63.46 euros – Jobticket, the cost of which the employer may partially reimburse the employee;
40.08 euros – Semester ticket for students.
By way of comparison: when the Deutschlandticket was introduced in 2023, it cost 49 euros per month.
The monthly cost of the season ticket has therefore risen significantly within just a few years.
Why is the Deutschlandticket becoming more expensive?
The price of the ticket is calculated using a specific formula that takes into account changes in transport operators’ costs. Key factors include rising wages for transport sector employees and increased energy costs.
This means that the new price is linked not only to political decisions but also to the increased costs of operating public transport.
What does this mean for passengers?
For people who regularly use buses, trams and regional trains, the Deutschlandticket remains a way to use public transport without having to buy a separate ticket for every journey.
At the same time, from January 2027, users should budget an additional €3.80 per month for their transport costs.
