On October 17, 2025, the German Bundesrat decided to extend temporary protection under §24 of the Residence Act for Ukrainians until March 4, 2027.
The extension happens automatically, and no application is required.
It applies to Ukrainian citizens, their families, and individuals who permanently lived in Ukraine before the war.
People without legal Ukrainian residence status or those previously denied an extension are not included.
