On Thursday, April 23, 2026, a discussion evening will take place at the Familienbildungsstätte (FBS) in Viersen, addressing one of the most profound questions of faith — the problem of theodicy: how can the existence of suffering be reconciled with belief in an all-powerful and good God?

In light of current events in Europe, this topic feels more relevant than ever. When peace becomes fragile and images of destruction and violence seem closer than ever before, many people begin to ask difficult questions: what does faith mean in such times? What can one do when prayers seem to go unanswered?

Following an introductory talk by religious studies scholar Johannes Fritzsche (M.A.), participants are invited to join an open discussion. The focus will be on personal experiences, doubts, and reflections: what helps people endure difficult times? Is it possible to maintain faith despite suffering — or even because of it?

The event is open to everyone who believes, doubts, or is searching.
